DEMOLITION DERBY RULES AND REGULATIONS

All cars must be in lineup no later than 1:00 PM August 10
Entries are open to men and women who are EIGHTEEN (18) YEARS of age or older.
In the interest of safety and fairness to all contestants, the following rules and regulations shall prevail.
DRIVER’S ENTRY
I. Driver and his pit crew must be eighteen (18) years of age or older. NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 WILL BE ALLOWED THROUGH THE CONTESTANT GATE.
2. Driver must furnish his or her own car or have someone sponsor his or her car.
3. American cars or station wagons are allowed. No Jeeps, trucks, carry alls, convertibles, and hearses. Etc.
4. Drivers may enter each heat but must have a different car for each.
5. Drivers may use a maximum of 2 pit persons per car. All pit crew personnel must be listed on the entry form and have the proper release forms signed. Pit crew must go through the gate with the car and driver. All equipment and tools must remain in the pit area. Each entered car is allowed one (1) support vehicle in the pits, a truck or a trailer not both. No camp trailers, motor homes allowed in pit area. Additional support must be parked across the street in the parking lot EVERY PIT CREW MUST BE EQUIPPED WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER!
6. Drivers and pit crew will be issued name tags for identification which must be displayed at all times on front of shirts.
Anyone in the pit area without proper identification will be removed from the area by uniformed officers. ABSOLUTELY NO ONE IS ALLOWED IN THE PIT AREA other than drivers, pit crews and officials. THIS RULE WILL BE ENFORCED!
7. Drivers must complete the information required on the entry form and sign the release of liability form. Pit crew liability forms must be signed by the listed pit crew and turned in at the same time. All drivers must attend the drivers meeting.
PARTICIPATION REGULATIONS
I. Drivers may maneuver forward and backward.
2. No intentional hitting opponent’s cars in driver’s door.
3. Your car must hit another qualified opponent at least once every two (2) minutes.
4, Driver must remain in the car until his or her car is removed by a tow truck. Due to insurance regulations, NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED TO RIDE ON THE OUTSIDE OF ANY CAR AT ANY TIME.
5. In the event of an emergency, a loud buzzer will sound and the heat will be stopped.
6. NO DRIVER OR PIT PERSON UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OR DRUGS WILL BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE OR ENTER THE AREA. NO DRINKING OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ON TRACK OR IN THE PIT AREA. ANY DRIVER OR PIT PERSON UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OR DRUGS WILL BE IMMEDIATELY DISQUALIFIED AND REMOVED FROM THE GROUNDS.
7. Any driver or crew member disobeying the rules will cause his or her car to be disqualified. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated and will be grounds for disqualification from 2013 and 2014 Derby. Drivers are responsible for the actions of their crew members.
8. Only drivers will be allowed to speak to the officials regarding the derby; no pit crew member or fan will be acknowledged.
9. A protest will cost $200 cash up front. If the challenge stands, the $200 will be returned. The $200 will be forfeited if the protest does not stand. Drivers are required to allow their vehicles to be inspected upon challenge. Failure to do so will result in disqualification and loss of winnings.
10. No pit persons are allowed in the arena area during a heat.
11. Two Derby drivers, having a minimum of two years derby driving experience, will be randomly chosen to assist the judges with car inspections. All inspections will be done in the designated area with driver of car being inspected and inspectors only allowed in inspection area.
PRIZES
Winner will receive $1,500 and the traveling trophy sponsored by the Rawlins National Bank. Any individual winning over $600 in prize money will be responsible for any taxes owed.
A cash prize will be awarded to the prettiest car. Bill Dalke and Anna Helm will each donate an additional $25.00 to the prettiest car if that car is entered in the parade.
Traveling trophy winners are responsible for returning the trophy prior to next year’s derby.
HEATS
The derby will consist of as many heats as entries allow, one of which may be a “Powder Puff”, and will not exceed a total for six (6) heats. The last two active cars of each original heat are eligible for the championship heat. Two (2) consolidation heats and a championship heat will follow. Any car not participating in the championship heat is eligible for the consolidation heats.
ENTRY FEES
Entry fee per car is $50. All entry fees must be paid by the entry deadline and must accompany the entry form.
PREPARATION OF CARS
1. Slogans, advertising or printing may be placed anywhere on the car EXCEPT front doors. Drivers name must be painted on the roof and front doors. Derby date must be on the car. Numbers will be assigned and placed on the car by the judges on the day of the derby. Mount an A frame to roof of car or truck for number placement.
2. Radiators and fans may be removed, but not relocated. Radiators must be attached to the radiator supports, not reinforced to the frame. Radiators must have a hose pointing in a safe direction. Batteries are to be placed in a secure position. Bumpers and fenders may be trimmed. Driver’s door MUST be reinforced, not to exceed 12”on both sides of the door. The windshield on the driver’s side must be reinforced with mesh or bars from roof to dash.
3. ALL GLASS, FIBERGLASS NOSEPIECES, COWLING, PLASTIC LENS COVERS, TURN SIGNALS, ETC. MUST BE REMOVED. THIS INCLUDES BROKEN GLASS IN THE DOOR PANELS. NO VEHICLE WILL BE ALLOWED ON TO THE FAIRGROUNDS UNLESS ALL GLASS AND PLASTIC HAS BEEN REMOVED.
4. Gas tank must be removed! A replacement fuel tank (not to exceed five (5) gallons) must be securely mounted behind the front seat. All fuel line must be secured. EVERY PIT CREW MUST BE EQUIPPED WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER!!!!
Any fire in the driver’s compartment will necessitate your stick being broken. If you have two (2) fires under the hood your stick will be broken.
5. No special bumper, extra weights, trailer hitches, locked rear ends, special lifts, blocks, shackles, no welding of frames or any reinforcements, except as mentioned above, will be allowed. Any car factory car bumper may be used on any car. The bumper may be welded to the frame horn only, no rolling of chrome and welding. No reinforcing of bumpers. ALL FRAMES MUST BE ORIGINAL TO MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR OF CAR. All trunks must be empty of debris, spare parts, etc. A 6” X 12” HOLE MUST BE CUT IN THE TRUNK LID IF INTERIOR OF TRUNK IS NOT VIVIBLE FROM THE FRONT.
6. No reinforcement of the rear end, rear end may have a chain around for safety. Body mounts must be in place and stock.
7. All doors and wagon gates must be wired or welded shut or driver will be disqualified. Trunk lid can be welded solid across if body line between trunk lid and bumper is less than one half inch (1/2”), no excessive filler. If more than one half inch (1/2”) two 3/8” chains may be welded or bolted to hold bumper. No pre-bending or wedging of the body.
8. Motor can be welded or chained down. No welding in front of the windshield other than the hood. If the hood is welded shut there must be an opening cut in the center hood no smaller than 2ft x 2ft for firefighting purposes. The 2x2 hole may be rolled to the top side and tacked or bolted. No more than 4 tacks or bolts. If the hood is not welded it must be chained down. The hood may be bent over but cannot be welded to the bumper. No body reinforcement.
9. A T-Bar may be welded behind the driver’s seat from the floor to the back of the driver’s seat or a safety bar may be installed behind the driver’s seat, running from door to door, welded to both doors, not to exceed 3” pipe. Either or, not both. No kickers.
10. Wheels must be X’d.
11. NO TOLLENANCE If you plan on ignoring or violating any of the rules; please bring your cutting torch to facilitate removal of any unapproved item.
12. Remember – All official calls are final!!
13. Safety belts and head helmets are required.
MINI HEAT
ABOVE RULES APPLY AS WELL AS THOSE BELOW.
1. A T-bar MUST be welded behind the driver’s seat from the floor to the back of the driver’s seat.
2. Small cars must have a wheel base of 102-inches or smaller and be either 4 or 6 cylinder to run in this heat.
3. No welding except drivers door – 12” bar
4. Fuel tank a maximum of 5 gallons, half full.
5. Factory car bumpers to make model and year of your car only.
6. Mini’s may run four wheel drive cars only if they fit the wheel base measurement and the front or rear drive line is disconnected making it a two-wheel drive.
TRUCK RULES__
1. All trucks will adhere to the same rules as big cars in addition to;
2. Trucks are to be either front wheel or rear wheel drive 2x4 – ½ or ¾ ton trucks or Suburban’s. __
3. Battery must be relocated to the front floorboard and securely fastened and covered. Only one battery allowed._
4. All trucks must have radiator in stock position. If radiator is removed, you may ONLY run water in the block. No reserve tanks allowed.__
5. Side doors must be welded 6 inches on and 6 inches off, chained, bolted or wired, but they MUST be secured in one of the manners.
6. Beds may not have additional bolts. Factory rubber mounts may be removed. Factory bed floor only. Wood floor may have factory metal strips.NO steel replacement floors.
7. Tailgate may be welded to the bed. No other re-enforcing will be allowed.
8. Stock gas tank must be removed. A plastic or metal fuel tank not to exceed five (5) gallons will be securely bolted to the front center of the bed, no ratchet straps. A maximum of three (3) gallons of gas in tank. Electric fuel pumps are allowed but must have their own power source and have a shut off within reach of the driver. All fuel lined are to be secured and fittings must be leak proof._
9. Bumpers must be factory stock to the make model and year of the truck. Homemade bumpers not allowed. Rear bumper must be welded to the frame horns. No trailer hitches allowed. Bumpers may not exceed 21” from the ground to the bottom of the bumper.
10. All hoods must have holes over the carburetor for the fire extinguishing access. Hoods can be chained. Hoods must be able to open for inspection. _
11. All frames must remain factory stock, year make and model. No weld zones. Do not add cable, wire, chain, or tensioning in to outside the frames. Drivers caught with altered frames will not be allowed to run and will forfeit their entry fee._
12. Only gasoline or diesel fuels are allowed. No alcohol or other alternative fuels permitted.
SUSPENSION MUST REMAIN STOCK:
A. No still suspension. Trucks must have original give and bounce.
B. No welding suspension components, including upper and lower arms, tie rods, etc…
C. Rear coil springs may be welded or clamped.
D. Trucks must have original type suspension. Do not change leaf springs trucks to coil springs, or coil springs trucks to leaf springs.
E. No welding leaf springs.
F. No adding leaves to spring assemblies. The number of spring leaves must be the same as manufacturer originally delivered stock, standard truck.
G. All trailer hitches must be removed. Class A or frame mounted hitches must be totally removed. Class B or bumper mounted hitches must have trailer ball and stub cut off.
H. Frame must remain stock. Absolutely no fillers inside or added re-enforcement outside the frame. Do not weld the seams. Repairs made to a broken or rusted frame must meet the approval of the officials. DO NOT use camouflage materials.
TIRES
A. All tires and wheels must be pre-approved
B. Implement, bar, and light truck tires are permitted – no filled tires, including foam, water, cement, etc…No chains, studs, or solid tires.
C. No split rims
REMOVAL OF CARS
Each driver must remove his or her car from the Fair Grounds with 48 hours.

RELEASE OF LIABILITY
KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS: That the following people, as team members or participants in the Carbon County Fair 2013 Demolition Derby to be held in the City of Rawlins, County of Carbon, State of Wyoming, at the Carbon County Fair Grounds. Being of full age, for valuable consideration and the right to participate therein, which is hereby acknowledged, do hereby RELEASE, ACQUIT AND DISCHARGE the Carbon County Fair Board, Board of County Commissioners, County of Carbon and any and all other employees, agents or representatives thereof, from all claims, demands, actions and causes of action, damages, costs, loss of service, expenses and compensations on account of or in any growing out of my participation in the Carbon County Fair Demolition Derby to be held on Saturday. August 10, 2013. This release shall be binding upon the individual executing the same and any and all heirs and assigns of the named individual. This is intended by all parties hereto to be a full and complete release of any and all past or future liability of the above named entities, their employees, agents or representatives arising as a result of the conduct of the Carbon County Fair 2013 Demolition Derby.

RELEASE OF LIABILITY
KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS: That the following people, as team members or participants in the Carbon County Fair 2013 Demolition Derby to be held in the City of Rawlins, County of Carbon, State of Wyoming, at the Carbon County Fair Grounds. Being of full age, for valuable consideration and the right to participate therein, which is hereby acknowledged, do hereby RELEASE, ACQUIT AND DISCHARGE the Carbon County Fair Board, Board of County Commissioners, County of Carbon and any and all other employees, agents or representatives thereof, from all claims, demands, actions and causes of action, damages, costs, loss of service, expenses and compensations on account of or in any growing out of my participation in the Carbon County Fair Demolition Derby to be held on Saturday. August 10, 2013. This release shall be binding upon the individual executing the same and any and all heirs and assigns of the named individual. This is intended by all parties hereto to be a full and complete release of any and all past or future liability of the above named entities, their employees, agents or representatives arising as a result of the conduct of the Carbon County Fair 2013 Demolition Derby.
